One of my most exciting challenges during my second year was working with four other writers on a TV Drama Bible.
As a team we had to come up with a contract, agree to it, and sign it.
After this, we developed ideas for a precinct 5-episode serial TV drama, with each episode by 30 minutes in length.
We also had to decide who would write each episode, and I offered myself to write the pilot, which everyone else agreed on. I always wanted to write a pilot episode for a TV series as it’s a very important episode that makes or breaks a TV drama; the difference between a project being green-lit or not. Together, we designed the scope of our precinct world titled ‘The Cavern’ from the characters (and their backstories) and the layout of the world
As a group we were effective in our communication with one another to avoid continuity errors with our writing. Our in-lesson time was very useful and hand to communicate with each other about ideas and developments. If something had changed in my pilot or I had a new idea I would have to let the group know because the pilot creates a ripple and sets up for what is to come for later episodes in the series. But we also had a successful communication through a WhatsApp’s group and having a meeting weekly to convey our developments and any changes.
This project taught me that working in a group on a big project such as a TV bible can be a great asset.
